Your CV is saved only in this browser so you can come back to it. It is sent to our server just to create the PDF, and is not stored. The faint lines on the preview show roughly where an A4 page ends. Print gives an exact copy of the preview; the PDF download is a text-based version with the same content, built for job application systems.
How to make a CV online in four steps
- 1
Pick a template
Choose Classic, Modern or Minimal, then set an accent colour that suits you.
- 2
Add your details
Fill in your contact details, a short profile, work experience, education and skills.
- 3
Check the live preview
The CV updates as you type. Reorder your jobs so the most relevant come first.
- 4
Download or print
Save it as a PDF or print it straight from your browser. It takes a few minutes.
Choose a CV template that fits your job
Classic template
A traditional serif layout in a single column. A safe choice for banking, law, government, education and any formal application.
Modern template
A coloured header with a sidebar for skills and contact details. Works well for marketing, sales, technology and creative roles.
Minimal template
Plenty of white space and a clean sans-serif look. Ideal for designers, consultants and short, focused CVs.
What to put on a CV
A clear, honest CV that is easy to scan does more for you than a clever design.
- Keep it to one or two pages. Recruiters often decide in under a minute.
- Open with a two or three sentence profile that says who you are and what you offer.
- List jobs from newest to oldest, and describe results with numbers where you can.
- Match your skills to the job advert, using the same words the employer uses.
- Use standard headings such as Experience, Education and Skills so tracking software can read your CV.
- Use a professional email address, then proofread for spelling and consistent dates.
CV builder questions
Is the CV builder really free?
Yes. There is no payment, no sign-up and no watermark on your CV.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Your draft is saved in your own browser so you can come back to it later. If you clear your browser data, the draft is removed.
Is my CV stored or shared?
No. Your CV is kept in your browser. It is sent to our server only to create the PDF file and is not saved there.
Can employer tracking systems read the PDF?
Yes. The PDF download contains real, selectable text with standard section headings, not a picture of a page, which applicant tracking systems can read.
What is the difference between Download PDF and Print?
Print gives an exact copy of the preview using your browser's Save as PDF option. Download PDF creates a text-based file on our server with the same content.
How long should a CV be?
One to two pages is usual. Early-career applicants should aim for one page, and people with a long work history can use two.
Is a CV the same as a resume?
In Kenya, the UK and many other countries the two words mean the same document. In the United States a CV usually means a longer academic record, while a resume is a short summary of work history.
Can I make a CV on my phone?
Yes. The builder works on phones, tablets and computers. The preview shrinks to fit your screen.
